As we enter our 68th year of publishing The Yankee Flyer, we continue to believe that we are delivering a much-needed and appreciated service of connecting local businesses with local residents. We need your help to continue with our mission.
Why We Need Your Help
This past year, the cost to produce and deliver The Yankee Flyer to you has increased at a rate that we cannot afford without making some significant changes. The cost of paper alone has increased over 30% this past year. Last Sunday, the US Postal Service increased our postage rate by a shocking 8.4%. The cost to mail the Yankee Flyer each week to our 40,000 readers is our single largest expense. We have worked hard in recent years to significantly cut all other operating costs under our control, and we have no further possible expense reductions that can cover these sudden, large increases in the cost of paper and postage.
How You Can Help
We have identified several ways in which you took small actions, our valued readers, that could have a significant impact on us at The Yankee Flyer to help us to continue providing a weekly connection between local businesses and people living in Bloomfield and the Farmington Valley.
1. Choose to receive the Yankee Flyer online instead of by mail. Visit our website at yflyer.com. If you find that you enjoy our online paper with its easy search functions and printable pages (including our puzzles pages), you can help us save on postage costs by notifying us to let us know that you are willing to forego a weekly hard copy delivered by mail. You can let us know of this choice by emailing us at artdept@yflyer.com. The online version of the Yankee Flyer is available at the beginning of each week and can be emailed directly to you. Hard copies of The Yankee Flyer can always be found at one of our many “drop sites”. An interactive map of these locations can be found on our website. Please note that if we do not hear from you, your Yankee Flyer paper will continue to arrive in your mailbox each week as it always has.
2. Support Your Local Businesses, they are the lifeblood of our community and the reason we exist!
3. Consider making a voluntary $10 annual payment for your “subscription” to The Yankee Flyer. (This would cover the annual postage for mailing your Flyer). See below.
